Chapter 5

Recalling why Salva and the others are moving far away from where they live, what would you do if the group was moving towards out of the country, knowing you may not see your family ever again?  Would you have taken the chance on being stung harshly like the tribe members in order to get the beehive? Explain.

  1. If I known that I would've never saw my family again I would not go I would find my family and Stay with my family. I would take the chance of getting stung to death because it was rather that or starveing to death.

    2. What if you had no guarantee that you would even find your family, as they could be dead or even running the opposite way.

    3. what do you mean by i would not go and find my family and stay with my family . Salva would not be able to not find his family and at the same time see his family.

  3. I would have taken the chance because if i'm starving I would try and at least find food. And if i was moving forward i would try and convince the other group members to go back to try and find your family. But if you do that there is a big risk you can run into the fights and shooting, so i would try to go back but also try to not get killed ni the fighting and the shooting.

    1. Brad I disagree because Nya is from 2008 and Salva is from the 1900's and I don't think anyone will get captured.

  5. I would of taking the chance to get honey because it is so sweet and its really good food because they are really low on food. Maybe while most of them got bee stings I think some of the Women healed the men on some of their bee stings. Because they are going to Ethiopia they will get further away and when the fighting is done they will go back to Sudan when the fighting is over to find his family. I also think that maybe its a friend that said Salva or a brother or some sort of family member and its good that salva has 2 friends now.

    2. Isn't your family more important to you then a person that you might not know much about?

    1. How could you just go to another country and HOPE your family finds you???

  7. If I had to go to a different country I would feel vary sad and I would miss my family and friend's. I would try once or twice to get the bee hive then I would try to find something else.

    1. So are you saying that you would keep walking with the group to the next country? Why do you feel that is necessary?

  8. I would surprisingly take the risk to leave the tribe and find my family because my family, to me, is more important than the tribe, because they provide me a shelter, food, and happiness. Although, it would be nice to find interest in new friends in a new world (Ethiopia). It actually might create a good beginning. If I were to stay with my tribe, I would definitely take the risk to be stung by bees for my tribe to give them food or honey to eat.

    1. Well, according to Mr. Montgomery, Maybe I would stay with my tribe because they're all I got. If I would find them, they might be dead or they left

  10. I would not complain because going east and that is far far away from the fight. And I would get stung harshly by bees just to get honey. One reason is because if I was starving for many days straight and to get some of the taste of honey is worth it. Another reason is because if I were salva I would feel lucky to at least get one taste of honey in my mouth after several days of starvation.

  11. Narthani the tribe has been so good to you what would you say when you leave them. An do you think the tribe would be happy that you are leaving? Would your friends go with you.

    1. Well Preston, I would actually leave the tribe because it is not the tribe Salva was originally in, so if I found my family, they would lead me to the right tribe.

    2. I actually think they would be happy because they never wanted Salva in the first place. I don't think I would tell them, I think I would secretly make a plan to find a way to go. Maybe I would take a friend, but it would depend on if he feels it's a good idea, because he's actually apart of the tribe

  12. If I was moving away from the country without my family, I would be very sad and hope they will find my group. I would be sad because I have been with my family my entire life and I might not see them ever again. I would try to find my family but it would be too dangerous because of the war. I would take the chance of being stung to get the beehive because if I starve I will die. If I get stung I probably not die.

  13. Salva had a big reaction to the bee sting. Salva had to take a long trip to a new country with the members and he is scared to move away from his parents because their is a war going on. Salva had to go so they can get the beehive so they can get the honey.

  14. If I was going to a different country knowing that I might not see my family again, I wouldn't go to a different country even if there is a war going on in Sudan. Family is important. I Would have taken the chance on being stung harshly like the tribe members in order to get the beehive because sometimes you must sacrifice something to get something more important.Like food if I was starving like Salva.

    1. I agree because in a tribe, you need to take risks to survive. I would rather be stung than be starving.

  15. I would go with the group that was moving out of the country knowing I may not see my family ever again, because if I go back to my village maybe I wont find my family so I have to go with the group and I will have a long walk to go so it will be good if I just go know. Yes, I would taken the chance on being stung harshly like the tribe members did in order to get the beehive because they will die if they did not eat so it is better to be stung harshly by dying.

  16. I would go to Ethiopia because it is way more advanced.Maybe I could try and get a helicopter to try to find my family. I would have a much better chance to find my family by helicopter than after coming all that way and having to walk all the way back and possibly getting killed because of the war going on. I would not have taken the chance of getting stung because you could die of too many bee stings and than the honey would be at no importance if your dead.

  17. I would cry and leave to go back home to see if my family was there. Even if I had a zero percent to survive I would still go back and also help other tribe members. I would also take a risk at getting stung by all of those bees so i could get that honey and honey comb.

  18. I would go along with the group and after the war ends I would go back to try and find my family. I would also take the chance of getting stung by bees because I would be starving and I would help the group get the honey because they helped along the way
